(vegan shopping doesn’t have to break your bank)
As we discussed in a previous post, one of the main reasons many otherwise health-conscious omnivores and vegetarians shy away from the going 100% vegan is because they sense that the vegan diet/lifestyle is going to be expensive. Well, we don’t want to blow any vegan smoke but we do want to inform everyone interested in making healthier, smarter, more sustainable choices that there are definitely a number of ways to shop smart, and eat a healthy, nutritious, protein-packed vegan diet.
So today we want to offer our Top Tips on How to Shop Smart When You’re Eating Vegan-
- Buy All Your Fruits & Veggies In Season- Buying in season guarantees that you’ll always get the highest quality at the lowest prices of the year. Most produce sold in the USA/Canada comes from a variety of sources but remember also to think and shop as local s possible.
- Buy All Unprocessed Food In Bulk- A big savings key here and one that takes only a little bit of planning to execute to perfection. So get your granola, beans, grains and nuts in bulk to significantly slash you monthly grocery bill on these often pricey items.
- Check Out Amazon- Yep, Amazon offers some really good vegan bargains if you do just a little bit of smart shopping (keep a sharp eye on those daily deals). Soups, sweets, vegan snack foods and vegan milk products are just a few of the really good vegan bargains you can regularly find available on Amazon.
- Ditch the Frozen Dinners- Yes, we know. Frozen vegan meals are often tempting with their ease and surprisingly decent flavors but they’re always budget wrecking balls. Avoid at any cost!
Sure eating a healthy vegan diet takes a tad bit more planning than the standard but if you shop smart there’s simply no reason it should bust any reasonable food budget. So remember to use these tips and you’ll be halfway home!
